Self-expression has strong historical roots in the club dance style Waacking. Born in Los Angeles' queer underground clubs of the 70s as a reaction to the oppression of marginalized groups, the dance still stands for radical acceptance and the celebration of diversity today.
"meet me at my p(l)ace" deals with the encounters between energies.
Adapted, contrary or in harmony - the exchange of interpersonal dynamics is just as present in everyday life as it is in non-verbal dance dialogs.
The concept of this piece leads the local Waacking community to reflect on individual expression and the moments when different energies meet.
